Here's the base, i may actually air layer just above the graft. Although I am scared.
You drilled holes through the base, but layering makes you nervous??!! I would think that you are taking very little risk with an air layer. If it fails, it most likely will just heal over, not die. |

Couple layering questions:
1. Wondering if I layer it, and rooting is sucessful, will the roots be able to support the new tree-as it's a dwarf maple and was grafted in the first place, also should I leave the laced corset pot on the tree for more than one season because the trunk is so thick and it's a dwarf maple? 2.
