Pablor,
Welcome to bonsaiTalk. Sorry no one has answered you yet. It is the Holiday season after all. Firstly, look up to the top left of your screen and you will see "user cp" which is where you can fill in some details on yourself and your location etc.... This helps us to help you, since we then know what part of the world you live in and your likely climate/conditions. If you have a Digital camera, a photo always helps. Here are some links to help you and another here Without seeing it, at only 1 year old, I would say it needs to be "potted up" into a larger container (without disturbing the rootball) OR planted into the ground to help develop a decent girth. Branch development will follow a few years later and we can help you with that in time. Do you have a camera? Best Regards, Ian. Last edited by Ian_Homer : 1-Sep-2005 at 06:33 AM. |

Ian gives very good advice. Make sure you fill in your information. Your post was moved to here from another part of the forum, so now people can help you.
Let us know if you are still on the forum and if you have any questions. Joanie |

In general you'll either leave it to grow branches, graft them on, or force back budding by pruning. You can also bend the branches you have with wire to fill in those spaces. The hard pruning is probably the best bet if you want a new branch though. There are quite scientific reasons for it happening, but simply if you cut a branch at the end a hormone that keeps buds along the branch from breaking (and thereby forming a leaf/branch) is no longer being produced (by the bud that you cut off.) This causes the buds to break and you may get a branch where you want one. There are lots that you need to read though. For one, most evergreens need some growth (green) left on the branch if it is to have any chance of living. Another is that there are generally agreed on best times for such pruning. I'm not certain about the habits of blue moss cypress. Others may can fill you in, if you'll fill in your profile. Wayne F.
