Barberry help

I rescued a sad little Rose Glow Barberry from Wal-Mart early last fall. I wish I had a pic of it to post but didn't think to take a pic till last week and I havn't gone back by the store to get the film.

It was all beat up with broken limbs from always being shoved behind the other plants so I went ahead and pruned it back and repotted it in November. It appears to heve never bloomed. I read somewhere that this plant has bright red fruit that lasts fall through winter. It is just now showing signs of new growth as in a few leaves so I figure the worst is over. Want I need to know is now that it is starting to grow again should I put it in a larger grow container to help it out in the hopes it will bloom next year? I understand now that I should have never repoted it (including a root prune) to begain with but what is done is done. It seems to be very strong as it never lost many leaves and most of them are greenish with a bit of purple starting to show. I don't want to make life for this litle shrub any worse.

I live in Dallas Texas. So far we have had one small freeze and I brought it in side and put it under a grow light. The barberry seems to like the light and the fact that I keep it cool in the house to keep the gas bill small. Should I place it back outside in the mild Texas winter? And it has very small stalks and not much trunk taper. The limbs are long and weeping down some on their own. Hmm not sure what other info I should give hope it was enough.
