Hi,

Yesterday I received a copy of "the spirit of bonsai design" by Chye Tan.

I wonder if anyone has read it ? And what is your opinion about the book ?

There has been a lot of discussion of this book on the IBC.

I have not read it.

From what I have read about it, I probably will not buy it, but I'm not looking for a good "bonsai read" these days. I would be happy to have it as a gift, I think, but right now I am too busy reading between the lines of Andy Rutledges eBook on the same subject.

By now, most of the discussion is centering on the "authenticity" ?? of the zen aspects of the book.

Regards,

Bart

Hi Bart,

I think the book is very informative, with great pictures and a lot of useful information, but I'm also having second thoughts about the zen parts. That's why I posted this to see what the opinions of others might be. I didn't notice the discussion on the IBC. Is it on the gallery or the no-pictures newsgroup ? ( I think that the two should be combined )

regards, René

That's just one of the MANY things that make this forurm an overall better place.

A followup:

Peter Aradi, whom I consider to be extremely knowledgable about both Buddhist practice and about bonsai, just reviewed this book in a post to the IBC.

I concur with his view on this one.

Best regards,
Carl
