Thanks for your replys. I agree with Bill. I collect old bonsai books for refrence and of historic interest.
BTW. I read in the last issue of Bonsai Europe that Ulli Ernst ( a German? bonsai professional) has all the editions of the Kokufu ten albums, so it sholdn't be impossible!

"You could say the same for the bonsai themselves, and quite a few people would agree with you. Most of them non-bonsai people. Many of them their spouses"

Uh, how much cash do you have on hand?

I didn't say owning a few of them was a bad thing ;-), just that owning ALL of them would be quite useless for the money expended. ALL, or more than a few dozen ;-) of them is flushing $$ down the crapper. That's what a few good lessons from a master bonsai person would cost, or the price an airline ticket to Japan.

When is money better spent--on old books (by the way, I have over 200 old bonsai books and a few Kokufu albums, as well as some other Japanese albums from more obscure shows, so I am familiar with the obsession for collecting old books) or on lessons, or --Heaven forbid--an actual bonsai?

Still it is an excellent show, I have had considerable experience seeing fine-quality bonsai in Japan and throughout the world during the past 40 plus years, so have the background to make such a statement.

Bill,

I had the honor too of watching shinji Suzuki do a demo for the Yamato club in Hayward, CA on Oct 16. To have won Kofufu Ten Award and the Prime Minister's Award 4 times is incredible. I really enjoyed the California Juniper he worked on.

Send a message via AIM to TreeBay Click Here to Skype TreeBay
Do Pay attention to what they ask for shipping though. You could win an album and wind up paying more in shipping than the price of the book!

Regards,

Matt
