Hi everybody:

Anybody out there with any tips on WHICH BACK ISSUES of Bonsai Today does Kimura work on these specific trees? Maybe I ask too much for 'lurker", but any help would be very much appreciated...

Thanks, Juan.

P.S. Regards to all from Costa Rica;i'll post as soon as I get a Digicam.

Hate to say it but probably none.
I seems like almost articles about his tree wind up about him. Not a lot about the tree.
Pity

I have always enjoyed the articles by (or about) Masahiko Kimura. I had the good fortune to run into him in Japan at the Tokyo Club about ten years ago and he took the time to sign the convention poster and pose for a picture. Definitely a prolific and talented, if controversial, artist.

There was an index published for the first 50 volumes of Bonsai Today, and there are the Indices compiled by Arch Hawkins. Maybe someone who has access to one or both could give you a rundown on which issues would be of interest.

Here is a partial list:

#1 - Kimura
#2 - Kimura
#3 - Kimura in California
#5 - Kimura
#12 - Masahiko Kimura restyles a Spruce
#18 - Masahiko Kimura
#31 - Masahiko Kimura creates a White Pine
#32 - Kimura styles for Red Pine
#35 Kimura styles a juniper
#38 - Kimura rock planting
#42 - Kimura 1996
#43 - Kimura
#49 - Kimura 1997
#56 - Kimura styles a Yew
#57 - Kimura and Junipers
#59 - Borrowing Kimura's technique
#60 - Kimura styles a pine
#63 - Kimura plants Junipers on deadwood, The magic of Kimura
#66 - Pruning and Training an Azalea; Kimura at work; Restyling a Juniper; Kimura searches for beauty; Bunjin with a Single Branch; Mashiko Kimura's challenge
#71 - Two spruces, Kimura and Kobayashi; Rousing a Sleeping Giant; Kimura creates a semi-cascade style
#72:Competition for the perfect work - Kimura versus Takeyama;
View of a cliff in the mist - Kimura
#80 Kimura special
#86 Kimura advanced deadwood techniques

Thanks, Ron and Treebay. The advice is very helpful to say the least. I've asked around awhile and no one seems to remember anything published about the Syouryu tree (in my opinion kimura's best "trunk"). And I thought the tree was real famous!
Any way, for anyone interested in some nice galleries (kimura, kato, hamano, kobayashi) try this: http://www.parlonsbonsai.com/galeries/
(not a plug, since this is not my site)

Hopefully i'll be able to post a bit more often, thanx again.

Regards, juan.
