Good Books?

Hi, I'm a newbie to the bonsai world. I've been soaking up all the knowledge I can. So far I've bought a couple of books, Harry Tomlinson's Bonsai Handbook, and The Living Art of Bonsai by Amy Liang. I've also checked out about 8 books from my local library, but so far, most of the books I've read have been pretty general and "basic". Can any of you recommend a book or books that goes into more depth? I'm particulary interested in propagation methods (with good pics) and specifics for each species. The books I have are good in these areas but just don't go into a lot of depth.

Thanks!
Scott

Sorry Eminart for the quick short response.
My wife walked in the door with a pizza. (typical man- I lost all ability to focus - must eat!)

Anyways after rereading your post I see the emphasis on propagation.
Naka's book does not cover this subject with the depth you are looking for.
I will be anxious to see what someone will post as a good book for this.

No problem. Pizza sounds pretty good right about now. The book you mentioned actually looks good. I need to know a lot more than just propagation. That was just ONE of the things that my books are a little short on. Really I'm just looking for a lot more depth on all subjects. I know there's no substitute for actual experience, but I'd like to read as much as possible, especially since it's still winter and there's not much else I can do at the moment. My ficus has had about all the attention it can handle.

ps. Nice mustang -- my favorite color scheme.

For what it's worth....John Nakas Bonsai Techniques I should be the next book you get. As for propogation on different species, there's always Google

Scott

Thanks for the pizza reference, now I'm starving.

The Koreshoff book as recommended by sauce is a very good indepth source, if you can find it.

I thought that Tomlinson's other book, the Complete book of Bonsai was pretty good too.

In order of preference, as far as I am concerned:

Yoshimura -
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/08...glance&n=283155

Koreshoff -
http://www.bestwebbuys.com/books/co.../b-search-other

Tomlinson -
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/15...glance&n=283155

Naka -
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/09...=books&v=glance

Amazon has almost all of the major works that I would care to own, if I was starting over.

Nice list shibu. I have all of those and would highly recommend each one along with Craig Coussins Bonsai School. But my personal favorite is Koreshoff. She offers a total summation of Bonsai with a lot of experience and history. Here again my opinion.

Best book available in my opinion....Deborah uses illustrations to depict styles.

You can purchase the book from Bonsai Koreshoff Nursery

Koreshoff Bonsai Nursery

Or you can place an order with Kenneth or Deborah by mail. Just include your credit card details, address and Kenneth will work out the postage to your country. I got all my books signed by Deborah and Dorothy this way.

Happy Growing guys
