Bonsai in the wild A. Nick Lenz

I have heard wonderful things about this book, Bonsai in the Wild. I understand it to be out of print. Is there a copy available that someone is aware of? Hopefully at a respectable price. Used is fine as long as the condition is good!

Hi Jay

you can get it at www.absbonsai.org/booklist and it is US$60 plus postage or US$50 if you are a member for the limited ed hard cover book.

hope that helps, i dont know how reasonable that is for a book in the states.

Cheers

jules

EDIT July 14, 2005 by TreeBay: The link for the ABS booklist is now http://www.absbonsai.org/books/booklist.html
It looks like this particular book is not available there now

Jules, Thanks!

I had known of this site, but in honesty, their price is a bit over my budget for a book! Not that it may not be worth the cost, I'm sure it could be. But, I have not actually seen the book and am going on the recommendations of others. Also, being retired, I have to watch my expenses..... either that or ... I'm cheap

Hey jay,, another idea would be to enter a buyer waiting order in the used book part of Amazon.com web site, you can put in any price you want like $10.00 + shipping

You might try putting in a request at the library, I know here in Fresno they have Naka's books as well as some old titles of out of print bonasi books. They even have an old 195x? issue of Yoshimura's first english book of bonsai. I wonder what that's worth?

I have both the first and second editions of this one. Just got the new one. It has basically the same text, but more pics. Stone Lantern has a shipment of the new edition. It's worth the money.

I have the first edition, a gift from Nick himself.
Lots of info & much insight on wild collecting.
I have been wanting to get my hands on the second edition & will soon I hope. In the meantime, Bonsaimon, would you bring yours along to the show tomorrow? Please.

Just starting to read my Christmas gift, and think this is a must have for anyone.

Well written, and a lot of great info. Trying to figure out if I want to use a highliter on it or sit down and keep making notes.

A bargain at the price.
