Exclamation Bonsai Today, #78, comments on wiring young specimens

I just picked up issue number 78, of Bonsai Today the other day as was looking through it. I found the section of the 18 year old girl, Nimi Kawasaki, under guidance from her master, Nishikawa, "Wiring practice for young specimens" very interesting. I have only been interested in bonsai for about the last four years, and will still be learning all my life. My younger brother, and a friend of mine have recently become interested in this as well.
My wife and I just recently moved into our first house, and we have begun construction on a greenhouse in the corner of our backyard. I will ask questions about this in a later thread. Anyway, I my brother and friend saw this issue, and became fascinated by it. I think those easy step-by-step procedures are very good for not only beginners, but for reminders for all of us as well. I'd really be interested to see if they continue any of those in future issues.

The current issue, No. 80, has the follow-up on the wiring scene. It focuses on errors in wiring, and how to fix them. It is just as good as the first article. I was glad to see that they approve of starting a smaller wire near the top of the tree to wire a small branch, by placing the end of the wire under a larger wire as an anchor. I have been doing this for years, but did not know the traditional view on this. It was good to see photos of this practise and its acceptance by the Masters.

Regards, Bonsaial
