Best book I've found yet!

I have come across a really good book this past week called "The Art of Natural Bonsai" by Dave Joyce. After going through more than fifteen books at various book stores this one is the BEST. Lots of detailed info, soil ph requirements, specific treatment and prevention of particular pests and diseases, training techniques with pictures spanning over twenty years of developement. All the other books have only basic info that can be found in a few hours here at bonsaiTalk, and lots of really pretty pictures. I highly recommend this book.

That sounds interesting, I'll try the library at the arb. my University runs to see if they have it there. The fine arts library has some great bonsai books, including Koreshoff, but I've since returned that so I could use new material

Nice book. Not the best one out there, in my opinion. The bonsai in it are nice, but not great. for instance, the cover photo is of a trident that is in need of an immediate root reduction...The techniques used are also kind of vague.

Best bonsai book published in recent years, in my opinion--Craig Coussin's "Bonsai School"." Vastly more info from some of the most notable bonsaiists around the planet for about the same money...

For those interested, (and in the U.S.) I found this book at Barnes & Noble on the "bargain" table for $9.98. Considering it's a hardback, that's a great price...even if all Rockm does is look at the pictures

Yep, I got it too, it is called the "Art of Natural Bonsai" by Dave Joyce. I enjoyed the case studies in it, well worth the price....

See also Vision of My Soul by Robert Steven. ALOT on the ART side of bonsai. Sounds like I need to get this one you guys are talking about AND my own Steven's book and that would be a nice start. Love and Trees.

DOH!! If only I'd been patient. I got it when it first came out about two years ago. It was like $30 or $25, but sice i bought it at the nursery where i worked I got it on discount for $18. I must say its a great book, with lots of cool trees. Shame the author died of cancer. Wonder where all his trees are now?

And i bought it for the pictures..

I have read and love this book. I plan to buy it soon. Too many books, too many trees, so little time.
