Thumbs up The Art Of Natural Bonsai by Dave Joyce

i just checked out from the library, The Art Of Natural Bonsai by Dave Joyce 287 pages and hundreds of photo's. This is quite the book on bonsai, has case history of several tree's. He has a different veiw on bonsai than the "staples", Colin Lewis ect.
He says that a natural bonsai has no large scars or any large amount of deadwood.
A good read.

I do agree that this book is a good read; I got it a while back from Amazon. This book is the best argument for "naturalistic" bonsai that I've read. The author is quite an amazing man. He doesn't claim to be the worlds best artists and is (self-admitted) terrible at wiring, but the trees he has produced have a unique, understated, tranquil quality to them. He did not, however, sacrifice the quality of his stock for this "naturalistic" look; some of his maples (especially the big osakazuki cascade) were quite spectacular. It is a pity that the author lost his battle with cancer soon after finishing this book.
All the best,
JDL
