Lightbulb V0.3 Forms

Attached are the forms for release V0.3. We're nearly there. The next release will include the more complex forms, such as Specimens, Containers, Soil Mixtures, and Repotting.

Please comment now. Unless I hear significant and meaninful complaints, I will consider the design of the these forms complete and set. Silence is deemed consent.

Thanks for your feedback,
Brian

Seedling Menus

As a point of reference, I've attached the Main Menu and the Reference Menu, which is activated when the Reference button is clicked in the Main Menu.

Basically, I've completed all the forms in the Reference Menu, and have yet to do significant work on the forms reference in the Main Menu. That is how I intend to release V0.3, after I insure that all Reference Menu forms work correctly.

Hi, Brian - I haven't been online much lately...Forms/design looking good.

Typo alert - on the Varieties form, you probably copied the 'Genus Botanical Name' box down to the next one under. Is the one underneath supposed to be 'Species Botanical Name'? There are now two 'Genus Botanical Name' boxes.

Hi Brian I like esp. the look of the reference menu... may be amend that scary "stop" button on the first form at some stage? Otherwise it looks good as far I can tell from those two pages.. :-)

Oops...somehow missed the top ones... look good as far as you can tell from just looking at pics. I still wonder though whether the window really fills the whole screen? I think that would be neater and esp. with the window on "Variety" you could make all the different subwindows regarding needs larger. Because I can imagine that quite a bit of info will go in there. Just wondered too though were the recommended dates for procedures are shown? I thought you were going to allow that to be put in separately so that it can tell you what would be due for that species at a particular moment?

Wink Stop Button Is Correct, I Thought

But I thought that we had agreed that the implication of a "Stop" button was "end the application". That is precisely what the Stop button does on the Main Menu. Or is it the very sight of the word "Stop" that bothers you?

Wink Fills the Whole Screen?

It does, vertically. If I try to fill it horizontally, I become dependent on everyone having screen resolution at least as great at mine. Otherwise, people will have to scroll horizontally, which is totally evil.

I agree. How far down do you want to scroll to get to the bottom of the form? Every mm you add to the memo fields is height added to the overall form. What do others think? What is the breakeven point?

You are confusing "Specimens" with "Species". Specimens will, indeed included Fertilizing Date information. It would be impossible to set specific Fertilizing Date information for all members of a species.

Thanks for your feedback.

Understand something. I narrowed the "Varieties" form picture to comply with the forum limits on image upload sizes. In reality, the width of this (and the Species and Specimen forms) is about the same as the other forms shown. OTOH, they are all MUCH longer than the other forms. That is, their currently displayed width is about 50% narrower than reality. In reality, they are about 150%-200% LONGER than the others.

Did I express this clearly enough? I am trying to clarify, not abuse. I have no clear and present solution other than to make these forms longer.

Huh? Varieties Form in Real Size

I've attached three (!) images showing the Varieties form in real width. Though it should be obvious, from left to right they are the top, middle and botton of the form. I lengthened the memo fields about 33%, as requested.

Feedback? Too Long? Better Idea?
