Bug V0.3 Error List

In this thread, I am going to track reports of errors in Release V0.3.

First, I am going to reiterate the pre-stated functional limitations of this release.

Form............................Working?

frmMenu_Main.....................Y
frmMenu_Reference..............Y

frmRef_AcquisitionSources...Y
frmRef_BonsaiStyles............Y
frmRef_ContainerTypes........Y
frmRef_Fertilizers.................Y
frmRef_SoilComponents.......Y

frmRef_Genera....................N - Searching
frmRef_Species...................N - Searching
frmRef_Cultivars (Varities)...N - Searching

frm_Containers....................N - Next Release
frm_Repotting.....................N - Next Release
frm_SoilMixtures.................N - Next Release
frm_Specimens...................N - Next Release

That means that the forms that are marked as "Working? - Y" should be tested. The other seven (7) are out of bounds, and attempted usage could result in responses from nothing happening to corruption of the database.

Errors regarding the first 7 forms will be addressed here. Any complaints about the last 7 forms will be ignored.

Please place brief reports of errors experienced as a reply to this thread. For the convenience of all (especially myself), I'm copying the previously seen (relevant) error reports as replies here.

Thanks,
Brian

BonsaiPix not set up properly

The zip file contains references to sub-folders for images which will be created if the the user does not disable the creation of sub-folders when extracting the contents from the zip file.

If this occurs, re-extract the contents, insuring that this time you verify that the sub-folder usage allowed checkbox is set not disable this feature. Do this, and the "error" described in the original reply will disappear.

Item Closed - User Error.

It might not be sufficiently obvious that one must add a photo in these, due to the error Ravenna report with not flushing the previous item's photo.

Not doing so will prohibit saving the record if you press the Save key, due to the complaining of there being a NULL in the PhotoPath. It will also prohibit you from moving to the Prev or Next records.

Brian, a couple of 'problems'.
1- the Main Menu page has some issues with reading. It looks like there are missing lines in the copywrite section
2- When entering info in the acquisition source section you can not use cut and paste. I had to manually type in the entries.
3- There is no search type function, as the menu's get loaded with hundreds of entries it is difficult to find what you need by next and back keys.

Thanks for your work..
J

Is this perhaps an issue with resolution and the form needing to be rendered bigger?

Can you please post a screenshot of what you see?

I'll double check.

Could not replicate. Seems to work fine.

So, pending further information and reiteration of the complaint, this item is:

Menus get loaded? Or, database gets loaded?

In any case, search functionality is to be included in the next release.

Oh, my. I thought that I had bypassed that warning.

And that's just the right word. I should have gotten a digital signature for the database, but I forgot.

The temporary workaround is as follows:

In MS-Access, click on Tools in the menubar. When the sub-menu flies out, find Macro> Click on that, and another sub-menu flies out. Click on Security... A tabbed dialog box will pop up.

The Security Level tab has three radio buttons on it, setting macro security level.

Click on the Low button to stop Access from taking notice that the database contains VBA code.

NOW do this only if you are running up-to-date antiviral software. There is a security risk to doing this, which you must accept as a choice of using this temporary workaround.

Otherwise, just continue to click through the warning.

I will do what is necessary to get a Digital Signature and assign it the database before the next release to avoid this whole situation in the future.

Still Open - Workaround Provided

Oy. This is the same quandry I've been dealing with in conversation with Ravenna. How big is big enough?

There was excess white space to the right. I redrew the form, and it went away.

I also increased the size of text in the copyright statement.

Closed - Patch in Next Release
