Pencil OS poll!!!

Simple curiosity...

What are you using... and what do you plan? You can (and in many cases, better do) choose more than one answer.

Note : OS = Operating System (like Windows, Linux, Solaris, BSD, Unix, MacOS, etc.)
and GUI = Graphical User Interface (contrary to simply textual user interfaces).

Fortunately for you, there's a maximum of poll options (15). lol

BTW, You are most welcome to post about "open" options, such as these referring to "other OS(es)". And if you check [f], please post about it!!!

Thanks to you all!

Max

My main browsing machine at home is Ubuntu Linux and love it. No viruses, worms, internet hack attempts to worry about. Unlimited supply of applications to choose from that are only a download away.

I use (reluctantly) XP and Vista at work. Used Vista when first released in November ( Corporate customer) and went back to XP after 2 months as Vista is so slow and many of my Business Applications are not supported and will not run.

Used Linux Ubuntu too on my ±new laptop! (Fujitsu Lifebook N6410 - with some customizations)

I LOVED it... But when I had...
...to use Maple, Mathematica (and some others);
...some "I wanna play!!!" ideas;
...to connect my iPod, camera, printer, etc....
It was soooo painful to have to use school computers or dual boot that I switched everything back to a good old M$ WinXP....

BUT! at least... I use VMware to keep in touch with Ubuntu server and GNOME .. and... Slackware too...

And yes, the way you can just have a new software 2 clicks away is sooooo great!
Had a full LAMP server set up in minutes!

And I'm surprised... yet only 4 on 13 prefer graphical applications!

I am a linux user since 1998 and I use it exclusively since 2001.
I second what says kcpoole on every point.
My wife had vista on her new computer : she asked me to install linux to gain speed and simplicity (and she isn't a power user : she just does point and click).

I reiterate : it would be interesting to know what you are using when you check that you are using some other OS.

Please!

Vista install in 2 minutes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVbf9tOGwno

Video taken from macTV Videocast, shows some Vista "innovations" that, in fact, are only copies of Mac OS X programs and system. Check it out, and you'll be able to see just how similar Windows 'Vista' will be to our familiar Mac OS X.
