Lightbulb Relationship Diagram

For those of you who may be sufficiently familiar with relational databases, or could use the diagram to visualize the relationships verbally described above, here is a picture.

Pencil Done!?

Well, there it is. Have I forgotten or misunderstood anything?

Please ask as many questions as you'd like to tease out accurate answers to uncertainties.

hmm. maybe pots? (kiln style color construction, glaze, hxwxd, cost, value?) the acquisition property would apply there too.

Thank you. I had completely forgotten that. I need to add cost and value for the Specimens too, don't I?

Maybe I missed it somewhere in this nice long thread, but has there been thought as to a "sort by" function?

I.e. I want to sort and see which plants are in the same soil.. or which plants are in different pot styles...?

Also, is there a place to put lighting requirements? Like, shade loving, under the bench, desert sun, etc?

Yes, sir. That is what relationships and indeces are all about, facilitating exactly that type of functionality. How we want to use that will be established when we design some of the forms/reports. OK?

Not yet. Can you provide me with a definitive list of what the possibilities should be? It doesn't sound like it should be a long, open ended list, but a discrete list not requiring any use maintenance (similar to TreeStyles).

Thanks very much for your insightful comments.

Brian

Well done Brian! Just a few suggestions, could you include age, height and maybe trunk diameter for the trees and pot dimensions.

Have included the physical dimensions, after someone else suggested it. Need to publish updated description (today).

Age, however will remain a calculated value, based on age at acquisition plus the difference between today and the date of acquisition. OK?

THANK YOU ALL
for your thoughtful and insightful comments!

Book Version 0.2

OK, folks. Based on the collective input, I have made significant enhancements to the database structure. tblStylingPhotos has been deleted, replace by joinProgressPhotos. tblTreeSpecies and tblSpecimens have been modified; new/modified fields are denoted by a leading "* ". Several other new tables have been added to hold requested data.

Below is the new Relationship Diagram.

Thanks again for your communal assistance.
