How do you currently record your bonsai information?

Sorry if this has already bee covered in one of Brians threads, I have been slowly catching up reading them all.

What do you all currently use to record your bonsai information?

Paper notepad?, Excel?, Word Processor?, Text File?

I guess I am just curious of all the possible answers.

cheers,
Brett

Well I tried it and it doesn't look too bad at all. But yeah, I can't read it al all. haha.

It looked as though you weren't saving much information on each bonsai. Is this correct?

I guess I am trying to find out what type of information people keep on their bonsai's.

Thanks for the link though.

cheers,

bonsai brett , i use microsoft word and record everything i do to my trees, even down to fertilizing, trimming and anything that i feel of importance. I also take alot of pictures and place the notes and pics in a individual folder . I got a really cool bonsai card offline somewhere, can't remember to save my life, but this records the scientific name , common name, last time repotted, and the requirements for each tree. I have attached the bonsai card. i have one of these for each tree.

Thanks for the attachment Ronny! Seeing the fields and information that other people keep is really helpful for me.

Unhappy few years of work

I was aquiring more trees than i could remember so I took an index card box and wrote up a card on each one, names, date and place purchaced, style, likes, dislikes and I have a progression of pics in my computer. I am going to print pics for the cards to preserve data I am about to change my hard drive so hard copy may be better. I need to update I lost a few while in Hawaii, small misunderstanding with the waterer.

Could you list the fields you keep on each card? By the sound of it you just keep a pretty simple list of basic information.

Pencil field list

I haven't got past the basic needs of each plant I started it out of having more plants than i could keep track of and the tags the plants came with were fading and breaking. If I do something the plant reacts to I write it down but my history is captured more on pics.

I use a PIM that has custom fields. I have the calendar synced to it so I know when I cut, repot and fertilize the trees. plus it allows for pictures so i take a new one each quarter (3 months) of the trees.
