Pencil Form Prototypes

I'm going to present more complex form prototypes for your review. I am just doing bare data layouts here, not including headers or buttons.

Please give me your opinions as to clarity of design, anticipated utility and ease of use, and suggested improvements.

Now is the time to comment, not after they are released -PLEASE!

Lightbulb Soil Mixtures

Here's how I suggest Soil Mixtures might look, with a scrolling list of Soil Components in the lower right.

How do you suggest editting (add, change, delete) of the Soil Components list might be best accomplished, from an end-user perspective? Not how, but what.

G'day Brian...

Looks good...I would assume you will provide browse, search, add, change, delete...

Also, I think you should accommadate FIVE soil components...maybe six.

Very nice, extremely clear layout, should be extremely easy to use.

Pat, you will be able to add as many soil components as required:

Re: Add, Change, Deletion of Soil Components:

Add - A simple "Add Component" button would be suitable i think (So a simple "New Record" macro.)

Change - If a soil component needs editing then there is no reason, from my point of view, why it cant be scrolled down to and changed in form, a "Save Changes" button would be suitable here.

Delete - Something slightly more complex here (And i dont know if it will work). Is it possible to have a Check Box (Similar to those you get in an email system) by each Soil Component where the user would select the one they wanted to delete and simply click a "Delete Component(s)" button?

Just some quick thoughts.

Cheers
Rowan

All I'm trying to get here is feedback on the layout of the form information. What do you think about the layout?

That's what I considered, after I drew the form. Great minds run the same gutter, I suppose. Rather than a separate "Delete Components" button, however, I plan to utilize the general "Save" button.

Ahh good idea. I had a thought after i posted, there would obviously have to be a button for a completely new "Soil Media" record, so the "New Component" and "New Soil Media" buttons would have to be easily distinguishable from each other, perhaps as parts of separate button groups.

Cheers

How about a completely separate form? Perhaps the currently existing Soil Components form in the Reference Menu?

Pencil Species Prototype

Here's the Species prototypical form.

The Genus info actually can be scrolled through to select the desired genus. The Species informaton consists of the Bontanical Name, the Common Name, and a species representative picture.

The memo fields for the Specie fields allow extended descriptive text, such as the user may desire.

Questions? Comments?
