Big Smile Thank You ALL

Thanks to all of you, especially Rowan! BTW, you need know absolutely nothing about databases to use this software. It is designed for users, not techies!

I am close to finishing an interim release, which will contain all of the data maintenance forms, except for Specimens and Containers. Both of these are incredibly complex. Everything except Soil relates to one of these two. Also, I will not have the Repotting form, which brings together Specimen, Container and Soil info. Until I complete the Specimens and Containers, I obviously can't do Repotting.

Also, the search and reporting functions will not be addressed, yet. Once I get all data maintenance functions going (the release after this upcoming one), I will actively solicit input on what you would like to see and do, and start addressing some of those issues.

Thanks again for your support.

Brian

Wow, what a great response!! So far we have 11 testers:

Mcspeed (Bill)

Nsmar4211 (Susan)

Malik

Weeijk (Wessel)

Noah

Top_Cat

Pat_Arizona (Pat)

BonsaiKC

Kcpoole (Ken)

Jay

Nclivingwaters

Thats a great start, i would ideally like to work with 15 testers but if we do get more then i will go upto twenty.

Just a quick note which i forgot to mention in the original post, NONE of the data entered by you testers will survive, unfortunately it will be swallowed by the next release. There are things you can do to save it such as keeping the interim database release and then copying your information across, but as formats, layouts etc. may have been changed it is likely that you will have to start afresh.

Cheers for the help.
Rowan

Larry, we are looking for testers who have little to no experience of databases, they will input data how its not meant to be input, press all the wrong buttons etc. etc. and this will give us a good idea of what the databases limitations of the database are and what needs to be changed.

Thankyou though for your offer of help, i'm sure your knowledge of databases will come in handy during the project at some point.

Cheers
Rowan

(By the way, that was fast posting, got it in in the time that i started and finished mine lol!!)
