Here are the proposed Genera, Species, and Cultivars tables, the first two adjusted for the generation of the Cultivars table.
Note that the Species table does not presume the existance of a related Cultivars table record. It allows for such a record, but neither requires one nor presumes its existence. While both tables have many identical memo fields, none but Description is required in either table, giving the user the option of entering information in either (or both) tables, as they see fit. Genera GenusID (AutoNumber) GenusBotanicalName (Text - 50) GenusCommonName (Text - 50) GenusDescription (Memo) Species SpecieID (AutoNumber) GenusID (LongInteger) SpecieBotanicalName (Text - 50) SpecieCommonName (Text - 50) SpecieDescription (Memo) SpeciePositionLighting (Memo) SpecieFertilizingWatering (Memo) SpeciePruning (Memo) SpeciePestsDiseases (Memo) SpeciePropagation (Memo) SpeciePhotoPath (Text - 255) Cultivars CultivarID (AutoNumber) SpecieID (LongInteger) CultivarBotanicalName (Text - 50) CultivarCommonName (Text - 50) CultivarDescription (Memo) CultivarPositionLighting (Memo) CultivarFertilizingWatering (Memo) CultivarPruning (Memo) CultivarPestsDiseases (Memo) CultivarPropagation (Memo) CultivarPhotoPath (Text - 255)

Brian,
![]() I know you said that having cultivar would lead to a lot of duplicate info... is there a way of putting a little checkbox in the cultivar , say, "like species" where it will autofill the boxes from the species table and then you can just change the one or two or whatever that are different? Kindof like the "click here if billing address is the same as shipping adress" box on the internet... Is that possible? And for the record.....90% of my trees aren't on that list LOL. And I couldn't use metric if my life depended on it! ![]() Susan |

Of course, on the Cultivar form, the Specie information (as well as the Genus info) would also be visible/viewable, so that might be rather redundant, don't you think? Quote:

That's OK, you're not alone. ![]()
