Aw Shyte!
Terror has in Brian-burg! The Ancient Knowledge Master has passed from this earthly realm!
In short, my development system has died. The main hard (boot) drive has croaked. For some reason, I can not even boot from the CD-ROM. I guess that it's time to admit that this 5 year old dinosaur has died. Unfortunately, that is the system where all my project work, including BMS, is located. The work is on a separate physical drive, but I have no means of accessing it until I replace the base system. I am shopping now, hoping to find one I can afford on eBay or Dell. I don't need the lastest and greatest, just fuunctional. In the interim, I am making do with my laptop for admin purposes. Worst case, I do have a backup as of the last release. I would just lose bug fixes. Please continue testing. PLEASE find new, different bugs. Wish me luck...

I'll try to not turn this into a troubleshooting forum...
I know you're not asking for help trying to bring the machine back from the dead, but it's one of those things that I do, so if it helps get the BMS software development up and going quicker, it's all for the love of bonsai... right? If you've already gone through all this, just tell me and I'll stop. When you hit the power, do the lights and stuff come on (has the power supply gone out on the machine)? If so, does the BIOS post? If the BIOS does post, have you set it to boot to a CD before the hard drive? What have you tried to use as a boot CD? What exactly happens when you boot it, i.e. does the Windows splash screen come up with the blue or green progress bar and then you freeze, etc...(I'm assuming you're using Windows XP). Just trying to help, let me know if you've been through all this. Good luck with it and thanks for taking the time to create the db, it's a great idea. Christian |

Hang in there, Brian...
Hopefully, that "...separate physical drive..." will make for an easier recovery. I know the feeling...been there...manyumpteensomething years ago... Pat

Well, I purchased a new system box on eBay. It should be a couple weeks before it arrives. It will take me about another week to get it set up, since I have to wait to get help setting it in place and hooking it up. So, some time later this month, I should be back in operation.
This is not the appropriate place to discuss technical particulars, but if anyone is curious, PM me and I'll tell you about what I got. Cheers!
