To all concerned members,
I am most happy to announce the Pipeus Cleanerisis 'chenille' air-layer was most successful...It has been separated and is currently doing very well on its' own roots...The 'dry moss method' does seem to work quite well for this species... It is certainly difficult to beat an air-layer to obtain suitable material in a short amount of time...Now with a bit of luck and perseverance, my entry will be ready by the deadline less than two weeks from now... Good luck to all participants... Regards Behr ![]()

Glad to hear it, Behr! My own entry is being cleaned and readied for the show. I am just waiting for the blooms to peak. Barring an attack by the crafty chenille moth, or the dreaded pipehopper, the tree will be in the running soon.
Good luck to all, and have fun with this one!!! Joanie |

Glad to hear the air layering went well! Nice thing about Pipeus-no cut paste needed
![]() My own Pipeus specimens are currently resting after a crafty kitten decided it was reshaping time... luckily Pipeus handle drastic root pruning and defoliating any time of year, any zone, so their recovery should be quick . Said kitten has claimed all of my cuttings and is unsucessfully attempting his own Pipeus entry.... seems to have trouble understanding the branches are supposed to be together, not scattered around. A side note: when trimming your Pipeus for display, make sure to pick up all the trimmings.... although they may look cute and fuzzy, the cuttings are really vicious little thorns that will iimpale an unsuspecting bare foot. Hi All,
Just a reminder that the deadline closes soon for entries. (20th September) So far, there has been a good level of submissions and I am looking forward to Matt posting up the entries for judging to commence thereafter. Regards, Ian. |
