Discussions on Our Next Contest - Faux bonsai

Our next contest at the bonsaiTALK Community will involve the creation of faux bonsai from colored pipe cleaners / chenille stems. The contest details and prizes will be announced soon, but if you'd like to get started you can visit a craft store and pick up some materials to practice with.If you have any immediate questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Matt

Now this aught to be a fun contest. Pipe cleaners and a bit of imagination is all that is required.
Heck I might even enter.
Here is one that I did at one of our club meetings. Not a hard thing and it was a lot of fun to do.

Learning the art of bonsai may be more like water wearing away a stone, or climbing a mountain where the peak is always shrouded in fog and just out of reach.
Persist, and someday you may see the peak in sunshine. You may pick up the stone and it's a thing of beauty.

What happened to winter? Is it April allready?

I have an account at the bonsai nursery, now I have to open a new one at the craft store? Whats my wife going to say?

What if this gets out to other club members I pal around with? Will I be ostricized?

Do pipe cleaners turn your fingers green? Do I have to buy brown ones for the trunk or do I buy white ones and color them with rit dye to get custom artistic colors?

I think the pots should be made from graham crackers glued together with chocolate genache filled with crushed oreo dirt.

Any other ideas?

I like that edible bonsai idea. Maybe for a future contest!

I'm still hanging on to that dazzle wire, myself.

Regards,

Matt

I mentioned that dazzle wire a couple weeks ago in a post. How long has that been? I'm thinkin that would be a natural with Glenn's crushed hardpan
