Here we are: the finished stand. I have not put any stain on the wood. What you see is the natural color of the wood. When this wood oxidises, it turns a wonderful cinnamon color.

And now for the gorgeous top. This stand has 7 coats of lacquer on it. I almost wish I could keep this for myself. Like the beautiful bonsai, these stands are one of a kind. The beauty of the wood can never be duplicated. Someone will be very happy indeed!

I have had a lot of fun posting the pics of the process of building my stands. Each one is a labor of love. I almost enjoy building the stands more than doing bonsai.

Gary, As far as curved legs it depends on the style of leg we are talking about. If you have a particular style in mind, post a pic and I will tell you how I would do it. Most of the curved legs I have done have been done by sanding or a bandsaw. Most of the stands I have built have been shohin size stands. Though.. I have built some a large as 2' by 4'. The stand I use under my Elm grove is that large and has 8 board feet of ash in it.
