Voting for bonsaiTALK's 2005 Fall Styling Contest

Finished styling pics in the 2005 Fall Styling Contest were due by midnight Wednesday, November 30th 2005. We had just a few default by missing the deadline, leaving 34 qualified entries, more than ever before!

HOW TO VOTE:

Vote on the entries in the bonsaiTALK Gallery, using the standard rating system. 10 is best; 1 is WORST

Review all the trees first, you can visit the Gallery section for this contest

Opens in New Window Photo #30671
TIP: There is a voting tool in your USERCP that will help you locate the trees you haven't yet voted on. Click the USERCP link at the upper left on any page, and look just beneath the BONSAI BUDDIES box for a CHECK MY VOTES box. That's where the tool resides!

POLL RULES:

Voting is open to registered members of the bonsaiTALK forum, including the artists themselves. Votes will be made and tallied in public using our Gallery voting system.

1. Please vote on as many of the entries as you reasonably can. There are three pages of entries, 34 in total. When you click on a thumbnail image, The blue NEXT and PREVIOUS buttons above each detail photo will speed your movement through the various entries as you review and vote. If you don't have a comment, you may use the quick ranking bubbles immediately beneath each photo to vote. If you do have a comment, just scroll to the very bottom of the page and enter the comment, put your score in the bubbles immediately above that comment and press Submit Post.

This year we will have a random drawing from all those who voted on every entry, those who voted on all entries except their own will also be included. The winner of this drawing will recieve the prizes listed for this drawing in the prize thread. You must post here in order to qualify for this drawing.

2. REVIEW:

Our recommendation is that you review all the entries first and then make your selection of the top candidates. There is a Slide Show link between the Next and Previous buttons that you can reach by clicking any thumbnail. Images are shown in random order by default. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy the show.

3. SCORING:

You may vote/comment only once per tree. Give your highest scores to only your top picks. If you give too many tens it will make it harder to distinguish between good and excellent entries.

4. COMMENTS:

You may write a short comment an entry and offer critique, compliment or encouragement if you wish. However, please be brief and confine your remark to the bonsai subject, raw material or work performed. Don't ask questions until after the voting ends. It's too disruptive of the process. Please don't comment on other comments at this time. NOTE: Comments that are disrespectful of the artist, other voter's scoring or the contest in general may disqualify your votes.

Remember, confine your comments to the material and the work performed, and do not comment on comments or answer questions until the voting period has ended!

5. ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE:

Artists may vote in the contest. Artists may vote for their own trees, but please don't comment or answer questions about your own trees until the voting period ends.

Judges and coordinators, who are really bummed about not being able to enter the contest themselves, may vote too. Since the votes are public, this should not be a problem.

Judges may choose to disqualify voters whose registrations were made very recently and without any other participation in the forum if there is sufficient concern on the part of the voting panel that there has been some type of
tampering. IP and email addresses are logged.

6. VOTING PERIOD:

Voting begins Thusday December 1st and ends Wednesday December 7th, 2005 at midnight, Pacific Time.

After the voting period ends, the top 5 entrants (determined by the five highest average scores in this popular vote) will advance to Finalist status.

7. QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CONTEST:

Any questions on the voting or the judging should be posted in the Contest Voting thread
http://forum.bonsaitalk.com/showthread.php?t=15636
or by contacting the contest coordinator (Will Heath) by PM.

(Thanks Matt, for your work on this announcement)

So we post on a scale from one to Ten on how we like the tree? And can we comment on them now or just vote with numbers?

Correction.

The Voting Period as posted above will end at Wednesday December 7th, 2005 at midnight, Pacific Time and not on Thursday December 7th. The correction has been made above, thanks Carmi!

Only hours left, have you voted on all entries yet? If so have you qualified for the drawing?
