Hey Pootsie
Is there a inside joke to Chan's books for being last place are they that bad or something. I had that book from the libary recently and I wasn't that impressed.
I own his Bonsai Masterclass book, it is an interesting read but I was very suprised to see many of his trees displayed in the book had wire scars and he didn't even mention to aviod this.

Soltan:

No, I don't think his book is bad at all! It may be a smidge outdated (1985 I think) but it has tonss of good info and direction, and basic techniques.

But it is my guess that anyone who takes one of the first 5 places has probably read it by now, or one of a dozen other books that provide much of the same basic bonsai info and direction.

And I want to give a little encouragement to the last place entrant, who could use a little guidance.

Now, the book by Pessy and Samson

THAT would be a JOKE.

Gday Will & Co!

Since I did not spend anywhere near my budget for my Contest tree, I'll be making a bonsaiTALK dontation in the names of each of the Top 5 entrants. $50 AUD in total, broken down something like this:
  • $20.00 AUD for 1st place
  • $10.00 AUD each for 2nd and 3rd place
  • $5.00 AUD each for 4th and 5th place

So it doesn't amount to much more than a token gesture, but it's all I have to offer - and every little bit helps with the running of bonsaiTALK!

Thanks.

Fly.

PS: Do we have any prizes for the Voter Raffle yet?

Sure would be nice to see some of the vendors and businesses stepping up here with donations!! Support the forum that gives you so much visibility, exposure, opportunity, knowledge, and friendship!!

Come on, dig deep and cut loose!

And we will support the businesses who support bonsaiTALK.

You got that right. Maybe a vendor could donate a nice piece of stock, or a gift certificate. How knows, I think you guys could think of something.
