winter and watering

The winter here has not gotten over 35 degree, I have some plants that I am keeping in my window wells. Should I be concerned about watering?

Yes if the root ball is not frozen solid it will need to be hydrated periodically. I don't know if your window wells are indoors or outdoors and exposed to rain, but if it is very cold you might be checking your trees every few days and watering once every week or two. This can all be affected by the difference between day and night temperature and how much exposure (wind & sun) the trees have. If they are indoors it will probably be VERY dry and they may need to be checked and watered more frequently. What kinds of trees are we talking about, by the way? Some need a level of dormancy that might be hard to maintain indoors.

Matt

Thank you for your reply. The plants are maples and white pine in pots. The window wells are outside but they have a cover over the top. Today is expected to get in the high 30's and I will check them. Any other advise, I am new at this
