Overwintering Lysiloma thornberi (fern of the desert)

Hi -

Anyone with experience overwintering this species? I have read that it is hardy to 20 degrees F - does that sound right?

If that is the case, would it be okay to overwinter with trident maples, pyracantha and the like (where it won't freeze, but gets pretty cold in winter)- or should I bring it in with my subtropicals where it won't experience a heavy dormancy period? Alternatively, I can keep it with my pomegranate - unheated garage kept around 40 degreee soil temp with a heating pad.

Any advice from experience is appreciated!

Tom...

"...it is hardy to 20 degrees F...".

Remember, that's 20F...IN THE GROUND! 30-35F is closer to reality.

In no way should you feel that I’m saying that my way is the only way…heaven forbid! I've seen far too much of the "my way or the highway" attitude in bonsai as well as in other areas of life.
