Old man winter

Well we got hit with the first major snow of the year. Thought you southerners might enjoy! Please forgive the "UFO's" I took the pics when it was still snowing.

Wow, that white stuff is snow. I saw some of that stuff a couple of years ago. It was just like I remembered it from when I lived up north. Wet, cold and white.
Here is just gets warm in the winter and hot in the summer. But at least I don't have to shovel the heat ;o)

And, my, that is a lot of snow! I'm sure Will would have problems finding mushrooms under all that!

Has anyone ever lost branhes from the weight of the snow before?

Newt,
We had some of that white stuff yesterday morning,it didn't stick tho...no fun just mud.

I notice you don't have any "winter protection" for your trees. Are you able to keep em out on tables all season with the winds and freezing? If so what species are you working with there friend?

Well here in Vermont it is/was one of 'those' days. Left the house at 10 AM to go to my daughters for the holiday... 60 F and a nice day! Just got home, temps about 26 and a mix of snow and freezing rain....Yup summer is over!

Happy Holiday to All

If he's like I am then he won't mulch up his trees until to around the first of December, this gives the rodents a chance to settle in to other winter homes besides our bonsai.

I have mine on the ground now (some in the ground) and will mulch them up soon. The less hardy are already in the shed, awaiting their mulch also.

Alasdair,

you're right no mushrooms now until spring, winter takes all the fun with it. But that's why we have tropicals! (Hint to Carl)
