Ok I learned from my mistake but

I bought an Dwarf Alberta spruce from a local nursery, and stupid me kept it in the house to long. But before it totaly died I place it outside. since it is starting to get cold out side now and since the tree had started to die I placed it in a cold frame on the cold and realy windy days to protect it from further abuse. But I checked it out today and it seems to be doing worse. I havn't fed it in a month, because I know that can do more harm than good. I do check on it every other day to see how it is doing, I don't know what else to do with the tree to bring it back. It is not totaly dead because it still has green needles in most spots. what else can i do to bring the tree back.

Re: Ok I learned from my mistake but

Hi Frenchman,

the one thing this tree doesn't need is winter protection. * Albertas are very hardy. *Something like -40F! *

That's "Alberta" as in Alberta, Canada, and the cold will do this tree some good. *Keep watering, but put it outside where it can get some winter sunshine and recuperate. *If you still have green tips, the tree will likely recover. The soil should be slightly moist but never soggy, and let it dry out just a bit between waterings.

Good Luck,

Dr.Bonsai

Re: I thought....

I thought because the tree isn't feeling good it should be protected some what from the harsh elements at least till it recovers. but i will do what you say and thank for the help

If I were you, I would dig a hole into the ground and bury the tree pot and all into it up to and slightly over the pot rim. Then forget it until late spring.

Good luck,

Will
