Bad weather on its way! What do I do?!

Local Forecast in Detroit

So its looking bad for the next few days here. I have three maples that have already begun to leaf out and grow (one green leaf japanese maple, and two laceleafs). Tonight should stay above freezing, but tomorrow night and the next its going to freeze. Would it be ok for me to bring the tree's indoors for a couple nights?

It's always OK to bring trees indoors for a couple of nights - and days too!

Regards,

Matt

007, thanks for making this thread! This snow will greatly affect me also. Will bringing the trees inside have any effect at all on growth?

Sure - if you need a place to put them, Will Heath mentioned to me that he has plenty of space in his living room....

Cheers,
Carl

Any type of tree will be ok inside for a couple of days. Even a little longer if needed. I would try to give them plenty of light even if you have to move a lamp to wherever
you have them for about 10 hours a day. Also try to give them as much humidity as you can. ie: humidity tray, Pot of water in the area close to the trees ect. Depending on the size of the trees a good misting in the tub would not hurt.

what do you think?
Thanks

If I remember correctly, tridents are extrememly vulnerable to frost damage once they begin to leaf out to the point that a heavy frost can kill the whole tree.
