Rose Bonsai

Dear Bonsai Sensei's,

Being a beginer is no help... specially since I have recently acquired a Rose bonsai. YES I mean Rose not (Tea Tree otherwise know as the Newzealand Rose).

It's flourishing and is two years old. I have no idea about the maintenance of this particular type of bonsai. Particularly the feeding, pruning and training techniques that need to be applied.

I would appreciate any feedback, from any of you'll who have experimented with roses or similar potentia.

Best Regards,
Orrin.

Re: Rose Bonsai

Roses are plants that needs a lot of fresh air, good drainage and sunshine, not one you can keep indoors for a long time without it suffering.

Typical problems with roses are blackspot, mildew and rust.

You'll find that even growers that talk about "indoor roses" suggest moving the plants outdoors after flowering:

Basic rose care is the same as small potted roses. *Lots of sunshine, water thoroughly and again before the pot completely dries.
