Question about bamboo

No, I don't mean the lucky bamboo you see everywhere.

I recently visited the Monastery in Conyers, GA and one of their displays had what looked like small stalks of bamboo. I've attached a photo of it. I've also seen images of it used as additions to a bonsai landscape. Does anyone know what type of bamboo this is, or if it's even bamboo? And where would I get some? I think it looks really nifty, I'd love to grow some on my own.

Be very careful with Bamboo - it can be really invasive. I had to plant mine in an old wooden box to stop it suckering all over the place.

I'm liking the bamboo with the wee giant pandas. No question that it is a far eatern scene.
