Pine Needle Shedding
By Louis S. Zelenak on Thursday, December 23, 1999 - 10:05 pm:
I just started trying to bonsai plants, I have a bristlecone pine in a bonsai pot. It is growing but the needles are yellowing? Any advice appreciated. Louis S. Zelenak, Encinitas, CA |

It's probably best to review your watering first. Pines appreciate very good drainage and are subject to root rot otherwise. You can find some info in ***FAQ*** under watering.
If it's the older needles dying off, in Fall, don't be too concerned. Even evergreens shed needles and you usually start to see them begin to fall around late October where I live. The life of a needle is usually 2 years and occasionally will last as long as three. Regards, Matt
