I take it you mean "Fir" not "Fur?"
![]() All true Fir trees are classified in the genus Abies containing a few dozen species, and home to the famous Bristlecone Fir. Because I am not sure what specifically YOU mean when you say fir, I will say that Spruces, Cedars, Pines and other many other needled conifers make great bonsai. Douglas-fir, a common Christmas tree species in the Northwest U.S., is not a true fir, but it could make a bonsai! Pretty much any woody stemmed tree can make a good tree for bonsai. Small foliage (leaves and needles help). Here is some more info about Fir trees: http://www4.ncsu.edu/unity/users/f/...20links/fir.htm Regards, Matt

My humb ull opinion
Opie,
In your area you will have a hard time keeping a fir alive. I tell you this to save you time and money. Of course you could prove me wrong and I hope you do. Also save your money on Larch, spruce, false cypress, cryptomeria, and redwood. Spend on Japanese black pine, most junipers, olive, elm, ficus. good luck! |
