Fujian Tea

I was just given a 10 yr old Fujian Tea tree already potted. I know it is a tropical and needs a warm moist atmosphere. Can anyone tell me the propper times for wiring, repotting, pruning, fertilizing, etc.? I did a search of the forum but came up blank.

Thanks

Re: Fujian Tea

Try "Fukien Tea" Carmona microphylla

There should also be a listing at BCI Species Index

Re: Fujian Tea

Matt:

Thank you again for the information. You always come through. BTW, I have read your posts about the grow boxes and will be making some in the next few days as I have some material that could really benefit from them.

Re: Fujian Tea

I personally try to lightly mist my tree daily, try to avoid the little white flowers, though. I just pruned mine this May and it was just fine. I also water it slightly every few days with water I've let sit out overnight to avoid chlorine, etc. From what I've read these are not shaped by wiring. My gets very bright sunlight for several hours daily, which is probably why I need to water it so often. They are somewhat like ficus in that my shed many leaves the first few days due to the change in conditions from the green house. Read all you can and good luck!
