Dwarf Rhodies...
Hi,
I have dwarf rhodie that Im not so sure how to take care of them... for some reason their leaves are becoming rown and crispy which im afraid is not good sign...I placed it in a semi partial shade with a 2-4 hour sun exposure... Do dwarf rhodies shed leaves during fall-winter? Thanks Mike |

Not by getting brown and crispy. They usually turn color and fall off. Azaleas and rhododendrons don't like heat and appreciate humidity. If the roots dry out, they are quick to die. Rhododendrons in particular need some cover to do well. Bright and cool areas with open shade work great. On evergreen varieties, older leaves are usually shed in the weeks prior to and following blooming, but there are some varieties that are deciduous and will shed leaves headed into winter. That's usually accompanied by some winter coloration, and the leaves fall - and not the hanging-on crispies! Here is some general care info: http://www.whiterose.ca/gardening/trees/azaleas.shtml
