Try a search on Google for general info.
I own quite a few of these, what specific information are you wanting to know?

Regards,

Jarry,
Here is a prize winning Crape Myrtle form Nanpu kai 2004:

http://internetbonsaiclub.org/galle...opic.php?t=1774

There is not a whole lot of technical information for doing them as bonsai, but they are very container hardy. There is a little info at this forum if you search crape myrtle or Lagerstroemia.

Seeing you're from Australia as well best you go to Don Burke's Backyard site

http://www.burkesbackyard.com.au/20...bs/crepe_myrtle

I've got a fairly good informal upright, easy to care for, if I can't kill it I'm pretty sure you won't

Cheers

Dutch

Crepe myrtles are excellent subjects for bonsai. Tough, resilient and extremely resistant to the mistakes most of us will make from time to time.
I have one that has been in a bonsai pot for over 40 years (no I did not start it)
The big thing to remember is that flowers only appear on this years wood so it will need a bit of drastic pruning every year.
Also it is a bit brittle and styling is best done by the clip and grow method.

I don't really care for the looks of the usual crape myrtle found all over garden centers and what not with their shiny smooth bark, so I was surprized to see something completely different in a c.myrtle when I came across this one which is a chinese import. For the first few years I just kept styling it as you see here without letting it put out flowers. Last year I let it grow wild and it finally started blooming. In the Spring you will have to watch the leaves as they will want to get powdery milldew.

Well can't say mine is as good as yours but at least it doesn't have that reverse taper that is found on most those imports.

Ron,

What do you do when it's time to mow the grass, move all those bonsai stands to the side? Or do you make your poor mother in law do it?
