Coast Live Oak

Does anybody know where to find a good deal of information on coast live oak as bonsai. Or does anybody themselves have some general knowledge on coast live oak as bonsai.

Adam,

It's a nice species to work with, despite a few foibles. It handles chopping quite well and grows like a weed in your part of the country. It tends to have a strong taproot and to be somewhat sensitive to having this root cut back: do it year by year in sections, not the whole thing at a time!

I had good luck with a shohin live-oak forest in a 1" deep pot when I was in California. It was really quite a nice little forest within three years after I planted it from cut-back saplings with their tap roots removed over a two year span.
