Birds nest spruce?

Hi all, I was just wondering if it is to late in the season to take a birds nest spruce out of a nursery container and pot it proper bonsai soil. Any tips would be great.

Rich

Yes. It's too late for rootwork.

It only makes sense to repot the tree if you do some root work: untangle the roots and prune it. Doing all that in June will risk losing the tree, and if not, its growth will be compromised for the rest of the season.

Instead, you can work on the rest of the tree and leave the roots for next year.
