azalea questions
last fall I purchased 2 azaleas with the intentions of planting them in the ground until spring . the ground froze before I had a chance so I left them on the car port . they seemed happy there until the temp. dropped to the teens so I moved them into the laundry room for a few days and you guessed it I forgot them now they are in full bloom .Can I prune and repot now , set them back outside or what? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: azalea questions
What kind of azaleas are they? Many azaleas don't need any winter protection. Change in leaf color is normal, they can go deep red to bright scarlet. Their native environment varies from deep forest to alpine slopes.
You've inadvertently forced yours to bloom out of season as a flower bulb might. The plants are still fully dormant when blooming, and will come out of that dormant condition and begin to grow after the blooms fall. My advice would be to move them out of doors as soon as possible and delay pruning or repotting at least until the danger of frost has passed, before growth resumes, but hopefully a bit closer to typical repotting season. You can find some additional info at the Azalea Society of America web page: http://www.azaleas.org/ Regards, Matt
