Austrian Black Pines

I have two Austrian Black Pines, both are good quality trees and appear very healthy. Although there healthy and seem to be pushing a lot of new growth, they do not push any candles, they just keep budding. Does any out there have experance with this varity of pines. How do you control the length of the needles with out cutting candles. I've had some some success by taking out the stronger buds and letting the weaker ones grow, but I'm not sure it that is the right thing do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Bigthl.

Hi,

You may get more responses here if you can upload a photo for us. I have two of these trees - one in the ground that pushes foot-long candles every year, the other in a patio pot, that hardly extends at all.

Regards,

Fish.
