I guess you're talking about that eastern red cedar you posted. Those are junipers by the way, [juniperus virginiana]. Junipers like a mix that is coarse and drains well without too much water retention. Try 1/3 coarse inorganic particles [like turface, poultry grit, or haydite] 1/3 coarse sand and 1/3 composted pine bark. Sift out the fines. You may need to adjust the amounts a little to suit your local conditions.
