beneficial mycorrhizal fungi.

I noticed that my local organic nursery sells beneficial mycorrhizal fungi. I have also read that for oaks and maples grown in the soil this is a natural occuring organism that greatly helps in fighting disease and dertrimental fungi. Does anyone know if this can be used in pots for bonsai trees? Has anyone tried it?
