While digging up the Ginko I observed that its roots were very large and had broken through the burlap sack that was once around the root ball when it was planted there. The sack was almost completely disintegrated and intangled in the roots and many suckers. Once I got it home I did some severe root pruning and spent a lot of time picking out the old nursery dirt and the old planting sack. I choped the trunk off a little above the suckers and planted it in a plastic pot to recover for the rest of the year.
