Hey!

Here's what I would do (and have done)

I agree with the last post that it sounds like it's time to repot. But a tree in recovery is a VERY delicate thing. I would not do a complete repot (read: removing all of the dirt, etc)

I would carefully tip the entire pot, and pull the entire root ball out, dirt and all. Then place into a larger pot or grow box, and pack new dirt around the root ball, and add and inch or two to the top of the soil.

From the tree's perspective, not much has happened, except now when it sends out its new feeder roots (the white ones), they will find new soil to feed in, rather than air pruning!

Then leave the tree to grow and recover for a full season, and give it a little extra care. Trust me, it'll know.
