You've done well if you've killed it - they are the cockroach of trees... Last week I collected 10 Larix Decidua from the wild. They are just so hardy you can just pull them out of the ground (here in Holland the ground is very sandy). I root "chopped" all of them and heavily branch pruned and planted them in the garden again to thicken up. They are all looking good. I've been collecting them this way for over twenty years.
Right now, my for you:
Less sun.
More humidity.
Don't overwater.
Feed moderately - I don't believe that NOT feeding after root pruning helps.
