Evan the camera was an Olympus E20 digital SLR with the F40 flash attached. I was about 2-2.5 feet away from the bird and got off about 10 shots. The venue was a bonsai exhibit that was part of a big landscape garden show at the San Francisco Cow Palace in March, 2003. The hummer was visiting all the flower displays in the show for about 3 days or so. I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time with a camera/flash rig that could stop the wings at full extension. Pure, unadulterated luck for sure.
