Al, I can not agree more!
I admit to also 'looking around' on Ebay, I have even been known to bid on a book, pot, magazine or supply. I saw this wire and thought it to be a joke! Sure its colorful....sure its pretty... but NOT ON MY TREES! I am not close to an expert. My trees are beautiful to me, but they too are far from 'expert' quality. Why would I want to make the wire the main point of my tree? We try and get a pot that fits the tree, neither takeing away from the tree or being the focal point.... this guy thinks the wire should be?
Ebay can be enjoyable, it can be the source of some good deals.... IT SHOULD NEVER BE THE PLACE WE GO TO SEE WHAT IS THE RULE OF BONSAI. Most of the trees on Ebay are overpriced and very poor specimens....with little hope of ever being a good tree, there are a few trees worth a look, but they stick out like a sore thumb and are bid to an unreal price. Basically speaking.... the old saying goes "You get what you pay for".
