What are you trying to accomplish other than to antagonize others and justify your temper tantrum? This antagonistic approach is what you seem to loathe in others, yet you don't hesitate to impose the same approach on others.

I have to admit I too was mystified by the initial posting. It struck me as though you were saying, Fred, that any definitive statement, such as saying that one needs to ask permission before collecting, was not good, and you were only going to talk to those who saw life completely in shades of gray. I tend to see things in shades of gray rather than black and white, but with some things, it's simply black and white. Asking for permission to collect is a courtesy to the landowner. Plain and simple. It's also the best way to avoid being charged with trespassing that I know of.
