fredl,
it's good to see you back. i was wondering what happened to you since i took a couple months off from bonsaitalk this last fall (i was really burned out on my trees and having to move back to the states). ive always enjoyed your posts, and i like what you say about exploring answers.
ive had similar dicussions with my past students. in japan, there is no such thing as black and white when one faces a problem or some sort of moral dilemma. in japan, everything is sort of a "grey". i look at it this way, if everything is grey, it gets kind of hard to see things in front of my face. if everything is black and white, then there is no room for individuality because everyone else is the same. ive said it before, perhaps a more rounded way should be used by more people. but then, one's paradigm/path/road is one's own and nobody else can choose that for the individual. sometimes, having patience is really hard, and perhaps, it's good to take breathers now and then.
i look forward to your discussion threads (i remember the discussion about whether or not our bonsai feel pain, and i really enjoyed it), and i look forward to learning what i can from you and everyone else.
jeff
